Itinerary

DAY 1: LIMA
On arrival in Lima, you will be met and transferred to ALOFT LIMA MIRAFLORES for your two-night stay.

DAY 2: LIMA
This morning you will explore Lima’s historic old town; a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your tour will begin with the Larco Museum, located in the traditional Pueblo Libre district, which is housed in a beautifully restored viceregal mansion built on a pre-Columbian pyramid. The museum contains the world’s most complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver objects. You will then continue your tour in the colonial downtown. Here you will have the opportunity to see grandiose architecture of the Spanish Empire as well as Lima’s cathedral. In the evening you will be taken to a famous restaurant for dinner to enjoy a contemporary Peruvian cuisine 5 step tasting. (B, D)

DAY 3: LIMA – CUSCO
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel, COSTA DEL SOL RAMADA for your two night stay. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a restaurant that offers typical Cusco cuisine in a traditional and rustic atmosphere in the San Blas neighborhood. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: CUSCO
After breakfast, you will be taken on a gastronomic tour that includes a visit to the Chocomuseo and the Pisco Museum. You will have the opportunity to learn about the production process of each of these staples, from raw ingredients to finished product.

DAY 5: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast, you will be taken to the archaeological site of Maras, where you will have the opportunity to see the salt ponds. The thousands of small ponds help feed the many local families. As with many Inca ruins, its exact function remains a mystery although the design of ever wider concentric terraces means each level has a different micro-climate. DAY 6: SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast you will have the opportunity to take part in an activity that invites participants to learn about the living culture of Ollantaytambo. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the Pakaritampu pyramid, to enjoy views of the landscape and valley before visiting the town of Ollantaytambo, inhabited since the time of the Incas. Here you will be able to explore the historical streets. Today’s lunch will be a thousand-old-ritual of the Andes; Pachamanca. This special lunch will include preparing ingredients and cooking them with hot stones. Finally witness the unearthing of the Pachamanca and enjoy the traditional dish. (B, L).

DAY 7: SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
This morning you will be transferred to Ollantaytambo Station to board your train to Machu Picchu. Following a scenic journey through the spectacular Andes landscapes you will arrive at the station in Aguas Calientes to be taken to Machu Picchu. “The Lost City of the Incas”, Machu Picchu, is believed to have been built in the 1450s by Inca Emperor Pachacuti as a holiday retreat, yet within a century the city would be abandoned following the Spanish conquest. You will be taken on a guided tour explaining the origins behind this inspiring citadel. Afterwards, you will board the train to return to Cusco. Stay two nights at COSTA DEL SOL RAMADA. (B, L)

DAY 8: CUSCO
This morning, after breakfast you will be taken Huilloc. Today you will have the opportunity to learn about the community and their customs. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a demonstration of one of the ancestral activities of Andean life – the process of making garments using traditional techniques. You will be shown the weaving process of traditional Huilloc clothing. After lunch, you will be taken back to your hotel. In the evening enjoy a farewell dinner. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: CUSCO
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. This marks the end of your tour. (B)
