Colombia Express

Overview

This tour starts in Colombia’s colonial capital, Bogota, where you can explore the winding cobbled streets, stunning historical architecture, buzzy cafes and interesting museums like the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira and the Bogota Gold Museum. From Bogota it is on to Cartagena, a lovely Caribbean town, where you can not only soak up the sunshine, but also the history. This intriguing walled city, on the Caribbean coast, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Itinerary

DAY 1: BOGOTA
On arrival you will be transferred to your HOTEL for your three night-stay.

DAY 2: BOGOTA
Embark on a city tour to visit the historic centre, Plaza BolĂ­var, Capilla Del Sagrario and the famous Gold Museum. Take a cable ride up Monserrate Hill for a view of the city and the Andes mountains. (B)

DAY 3: BOGOTA
This morning, you will be driven northwards towards Zipaquira, travelling across the central region of the savannah, home to Colombia’s famous flower cultivation. Here you will visit the impressive Salt Cathedral, an underground Church built 300 metres inside a salt mountain, which overlooks the town. (B, L)

DAY 4: BOGOTA – CARTAGENA
Today you will board your flight to Cartagena (additional cost). On arrival you will be transferred to your HOTEL for your three night-stay. (B)

DAY 5: CARTAGENA
Enjoy a half day walking tour of Cartagena, where you will see the Parque BolĂ­var, the statue of El Libertador, Museum del Oro, and the Santo Domingo Church, before returning to your HOTEL. (B)

DAY 6: CARTAGENA
This morning you will be met and taken to San Basilio de Palenque. The city inhabitant’s lives are guided by African customs, traditions and rites, as their ancestors did for centuries before. You will see the older women dressed in multi-coloured dresses swaying their hips while they walk balancing bowls of fresh fruit on their heads, like you would see in Africa. (B)

DAY 7: DEPART CARTAGENA
Today you will be transferred to the Cartagena Airport for your onward flight. (B)
