DAY 1: JOHANNESBURG – SUN CITY
On arrival at Johannesburg Airport you will be met and transferred by road to Sun City. Two nights at THE PALACE OF THE LOST CITY.
DAY 2: SUN CITY
Spend the day exploring the resort and all its attractions, such as the Valley of the Waves, the casinos, the golf courses, restaurants and adventure zone. (B)
DAY 3: SUN CITY – MADIKWE GAME RESERVE
This morning you will depart Sun City and travel by road through the Madikwe Game Reserve to your lodge. Three nights at MADIKWE SAFARI LODGE. (B, L, D)
DAYS 4 – 5: MADIKWE GAME RESERVE
Today you will head out on morning and afternoon game drives with your expert guide to explore this fantastic reserve with its rich biodiversity of animals. Madikwe Private Game Reserve is located in South Africa’s North West Province, bordering Botswana. This 75,000 hectare reserve is home to over 300 species of birds plus Africa’s Big Five, as well as cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, oryx, eland, springbok and ostrich. It is also one of the best areas to see wild dog, known as the most successful predator. There are a number of dens in the park with the opportunity to see the pups growing up. Wild dogs are very social and the pups are well looked after by the whole den. It is certainly one of the great thrills to watch a wild dog hunt. (B, L, D)
DAY 6: MADIKWE GAME RESERVE – SABI SANDS GAME RESERVE
After an early morning game drive you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Kruger (flight included). On arrival at the airstrip you will be met by your guide and transferred to LION SANDS RIVER LODGE for your three night stay. (B, L, D)
DAYS 7 – 8: SABI SANDS GAME RESERVE
Spend the next two days on morning and afternoon game drives in one of South Africa’s best wildlife areas. In between the game drives there will be time to relax and enjoy the lodge. Lion Sands Game Reserve offers excellent game viewing with very few vehicles due to it being a private game concession, with only Lion Sands vehicles on game drives except for one area that one other lodge is allowed to traverse. Lion, elephant, leopard, cheetah, giraffe and zebra are common sightings, as well as other plain game and bird species. (B, L, D)
DAY 9: SABI SANDS GAME RESERVE – CAPE TOWN
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Skukuza airport to board your scheduled flight to Cape Town (flight not included). Here, you will be met and transferred to the luxurious MORE QUARTERS HOTEL for your three-night stay. (B)
DAY 10: CAPE TOWN
After breakfast, enjoy a guided city tour. Visit the summit of Table Mountain, South Africa’s prominent landmark, on an aerial cableway (the cableway ticket is not included as it is weather permitting). Other noteworthy sites and stops include the Malay Quarter (Bo Kaap), city centre, Company Gardens, the Castle of Good Hope (time permitting) and the Diamond Works. (B)
DAY 11: CAPE TOWN
This morning, you will be taken on a full-day guided tour of Cape Point. Travel along the Atlantic seaboard with its white beaches and rugged mountains to Hout Bay. If time permits, there is the option of taking a half hour boat trip to Duiker Island to see a Cape Fur Seal colony (own account). If open, continue on Chapman’s Peak Drive, noted as one of the most stunning roadways in the world. Visit the Cape Point Nature Reserve and the tip of the Cape Peninsula that has captivated travelers for centuries. The return journey to Cape Town takes guests along the False Bay coast with the option of visiting the colony of rare African Penguins at Boulders Beach (own account). Pass through the naval village of Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg. Visit Rhodes Memorial before returning to the hotel.(B)
DAY 12: DEPART CAPE TOWN
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Cape Town Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your safari. (B)
