In the heart of East Africa, one of the world’s most remarkable events takes place. Join renowned safari guide and owner of the African Travel Specialists, Richard Ruskin as he guides his favourite event of the year, the Wildebeest Migration. Join this safari to witness the captivating wildebeest migration as it descends on the savannah; evading predators, traversing treacherous rivers and seeking greener pastures. Explore some of the best regions for game viewing, such as Amboseli National Park, Lake Manyara and of course, the Masai Mara. Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVE NAIROBI

On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be met by Richard Ruskin and transferred to FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK HOTEL for your two-night stay.

DAY 2: NAIROBI

After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum and the Giraffe Centre. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: NAIROBI – AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

This morning you will be met at the hotel reception and begin your safari with a drive to Amboseli National Park. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge at sunset. The next two nights will be spent at AMBOSELI SERENA SAFARI LODGE. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Today you will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli National Park, hopefully seeing views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK – ARUSHA

This morning you will travel by road to the Namanga Border and cross over into Tanzania, where you will continue to Arusha for a late lunch (own expense). Overnight stay at FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON ARUSHA. (B)

DAY 6: ARUSHA – LAKE MANYARA

After breakfast, you will be driven to Tarangire National Park for a game drive. After lunch you will continue to LAKE MANYARA SERENA SAFARI LODGE for your overnight stay. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: LAKE MANYARA – NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast, you will depart on a game drive within Lake Manyara National Park. After lunch, you will continue onto NGORONGORO SERENA SAFARI LODGE located on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater.  his will be your accommodation for the next two nights. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast you will descend into the crater for a full day of game viewing with a picnic lunch. In the late afternoon you will visit a Masai Village. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: NGORONGORO CRATER – SERENGETI

Today is a long but exciting day with most of the time driving through the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive en-route to MBALAGETI SERENGETI where you will stay for the next three nights. Many clients say this day is one of the highlights of the safari. DAYS 10 – 11: SERENGETI

For the next two days you will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives to hopefully see the Wildebeest Migration as it heads North to the Mare River. This park is known for its amazing abundance of plains game and predators especially lions. (B, L, D)

DAY 12: SERENGETI – MAASAI MARA

This morning you will be transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Maasai Mara. On arrival you will be transferred to Kichwa Tembo in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive in the Maasai Mara. You will spend the next two nights at KICHWA TEMBO TENTED CAMP. (B, L, D)

DAY 13: MAASAI MARA

Today you will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.  The Maasai Mara is host to the most spectacular array of wildlife with 320 square kilometres of open savannah, woodlands and tree-lined rivers creating an eco-system which supports huge numbers of bird and mammal species, especially lion, cheetah, and leopard. DAY 14: MAASAI MARA – NAIROBI

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be transferred back to FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK HOTEL for your overnight stay and a farewell dinner. (B, D)

DAY 15: DEPART NAIROBI

This morning you will be transferred to Nairobi Airport for your onward flight. (B)

Richard Ruskin is a professional safari guide, who has been guiding in East Africa for nearly 20 years. Richard will open your eyes to the animals, plants, birds and scenery that makes this area the most exciting in Africa. A keen photographer (many of his photos are in this website), he is on hand to help potential photographers improve their photos whilst on safari. Richard also has great friends in various villages in both Kenya and Tanzania, giving you a more intimate opportunity to meet these amazing Africans. * The Kenya Government introduced large increases to Park Fees effective for all travel to National Parks, Game Reserves, Visits to Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage etc for all visitors entering parks from 01 January 2024, which is the additional cost listed above. Not all parks have increased in price, and ongoing discussions are continuing as to whether they will increase or not. There is also talk of introducing a mandatory concession fee levy on all lodges and accommodation in and around the parks. Should these be introduced, as they are out of our control, these will need to be added to the above costs.

Chobe Bush Lodge

Tsienimparihy Lodge
