Overview

This private safari is a taste of the best that East Africa has to offer, but with less time spent on the road, by flying the longer distances. It visits the incredible Ngorongoro Crater, the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park and Maasai Mara Game Reserve, as well as Lake Manyara, Samburu Game Reserve and Amboseli National Park. This safari is based on 4 and 5-star accommodation located in some of East Africa’s most beautiful areas.

Itinerary

DAYS 1 – 2: NAIROBI
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be transferred for a two-night stay at FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK HOTEL with day two at your leisure. (B)

DAY 3: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will be flown from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro Airport. On arrival you will be met by your African Travel Specialists Tanzanian driver/guide who will be with you during your time in Tanzania. You will then be taken by road to Lake Manyara National Park. Overnight at LAKE MANYARA SERENA LODGE or similar. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: NGORONGORO CRATER
After a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, you will be driven to Ngorongoro Crater, known as Tanzania’s “Garden of Eden”. The Crater has amazing wildlife and a large variety of birdlife. Two nights at NGORONGORO SERENA LODGE. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CRATER
Today you will be taken into the crater, for an almost full day safari, with a picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the only “living caldera” in the world and is home to thousands of animals that live within the crater walls. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: SERENGETI
After breakfast, you will travel by road to Serengeti National Park. From the park entrance to the lodge it is like a long game drive through the national park. Lion, leopard and cheetah sightings are common, as well as ostrich, hyena, elephant, buffalo, zebra and giraffe. Two nights at MBALAGETI LODGE. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: SERENGETI
Today you will be taken on a morning and afternoon game drive in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti National Park. The Western Corridor is away from the main tourist area but still offers fabulous game viewing, especially around the Grumeti River. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast you will fly to Arusha. After lunch you will be transferred by road to Amboseli National Park via the Namanga border where you will be met by your African Travel Specialists Kenya driver/guide. On arrival at Amboseli, you will have a game drive en-route to your lodge. Two nights at OL TUKAI LODGE. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Today you will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is one of the best places to see Mt. Kilimanjaro, with unsurpassed views of the summit, if not clouded in. The park also has one of the largest concentration of elephants in East Africa, as well as many species of aquatic birdlife, especially at the marsh. (B, L, D)

DAY 10: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Today you will fly from Amboseli to Samburu via Nairobi. After lunch, you will be taken on a game drive. Two nights at ELEPHANT BEDROOM CAMP. (B, L, D)

DAY 11: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Today you will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu National Reserve. Samburu is very different to other parts of Kenya as it is a far drier environment. It is here you will be able to see the ‘Special 5’ – the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and Beisa Oryx, as well as other varieties of game. (B, L, D)

DAYS 12: MAASAI MARA
Today you will be transferred to the Samburu airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. On arrival at the airstrip you will be transferred to MARA INTREPIDS TENTED LODGE where you will spend the next two nights. In the late afternoon, you will be taken on a game drive. (B, L, D)

DAY 13: MAASAI MARA
Today you will have a full day of game viewing in one of the best game viewing areas in Africa, especially during the Wildebeest Migration when millions of wildebeest and zebra fill the plains. It is also home to good numbers of lion, leopard and cheetah. (B, L, D)

DAY 14: NAIROBI
Enjoy an early morning game drive before your return flight to Nairobi, where you will be met and transferred to the FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK HOTEL for your overnight stay. (B)

DAY 15: DEPART
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is set on a crater rim overlooking the Ngorongoro crater described as the eighth wonder of the world. The lodge is built from local river stones and camouflaged with indigenous vines. Designed to blend completely into the landscape. Strung around the Crater rim, each with its own rock-enclosed balcony, the 75 rooms feature brass lamps, embossed leather headboards, wildwood mirrors, Maasai carvings and stylised prehistoric cave paintings. Each room enjoys uninterrupted views over the Crater’s unmatched splendour.

Elephant Bedroom Camp

Set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Reserve surrounded by Doum palms and other beautiful indigenous trees is Elephant Bedroom Camp. This is a small and exclusive camp of 12 luxury tents all furnished in rustic African style, whilst offering all the comforts expected of a 4-star accommodation. Huge herds of elephant, prides of lion or the solitary leopard are amongst other game that are regular visitors around the camp providing excellent game viewing in spectacular scenic background of rugged rolling hills.

Ol Tukai Lodge

Ol Tukai Lodge is a comfortable lodge in Amboseli National Park offering excellent views of Africa’s highest mountain – Mt Kilimanjaro. This lodge has 80 chalet-style rooms and a restaurant offering a la carte menus as well as set buffets offering views of the elephants, zebras, and buffalos out on the plains. Relax in the pool, lounge, or unwind with a drink at the bar.

Mara Intrepids

Mara Intrepids sits above a sweeping bend in the Talek River, overlooking the plains of the Masai Mara. The camp has 30 elegant guest tents which sit on a shady raised platform with sweeping views over the riverbanks, and each has a large 4-poster bed, traditional style furniture and modern en-suite bathrooms. The guides at Mara Intrepid are amongst the best in the Mara.

Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge

Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge is an authentic African-styled safari lodge situated on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment with panoramic views of Lake Manyara. This lodge offers 67 rooms with circular, double-storey, white-washed ‘rondavels’, and each has a small veranda. Enjoy views of the lake from the infinity pool and watch cultural dances in the evening from the lounge. 

Mbalageti Serengeti

Mbalageti Serengeti is in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
