Botswana Horseback Safari

There is nothing more exhilarating than riding through the African bush, surrounded by wildlife and spectacular scenery, especially in Botswana. The quality of the horses and equipment is first class, with guides that have enormous experience. As a general rule, riders need to be experienced and horses will be selected for you, based on the level of that experience. The accommodation is comfortable tents with private facilities.

On arrival in Maun you will be met and transferred by helicopter to Kujwana Camp. After lunch, you will be given an introduction talk on safety and game viewing from horseback. This is followed by an orientation ride lasting 1–2 hours. Two nights at KUJWANA CAMP. (L, D)

After breakfast, you will be taken on a morning game ride in the Xudum area. Return to camp for lunch and a siesta followed by an afternoon/evening game drive with sundowner. (B, L, D)

Today is a long ride from Kujwana to Mokolwane Camp, following a 30km north–westerly route through open floodplains and scattered islands to the Matsebe River system. A picnic lunch is served on a shady island some two hours from Mokolwane Camp, before you arrive at camp in time for sunset. Two nights at MOKOLWANE CAMP. (B, L, D)

A morning game walk/mokoro ride gives you the chance to explore the surroundings and experience the delta from a different perspective. After lunch and a siesta, an evening ride takes you into the Matsibe River system which features wide floodplains interspersed with mokolwane palms – a favourite food of elephants and baboons, while the numerous buffalo prefer feeding near the dense Tsaro Palms. (B, L, D)

A full day from Moklowane to Kujwana riding the southern route following the edge of the Matsibi River. A picnic lunch is prepared at the swimming hole. Enjoy a siesta on a camp bed in the shade of a big tree where you could be joined by some elephants strolling past or a herd
of buffalo visiting the nearby waterholes. Arrival at Kujwana is at sunset. Overnight at KUJWANA CAMP. (B, L, D)
