Overview

Visit three of the most stunning game parks in Tanzania, all offering a variety of game and diverse landscapes. Mikumi National Park is a picturesque landscape of baobabs and grassy plains, home to elephant, wildebeest, lion and leopard. Ruaha National Park is a beautiful reserve that promises an intimate safari experience and the chance to see the rare Sable and Roan antelopes, as well as wild dog. Selous Game Reserve offers pristine wilderness, superb game viewing opportunities and the amazing birdlife of the Rufiji River. This safari offers a remote escape into an untouched wilderness whilst still enjoying all the comforts of luxury accommodation.

Itinerary

DAY 1: DAR ES SALAAM – MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
Today you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your lodge before being taken on an afternoon game drive. Three nights at STANLEY’S KOPJE. (D)

DAYS 2 – 3: MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
Spend two days game viewing in 4×4 vehicles with experienced guides. Mikumi National Park is home to a plethora of big game and a wide variety of birds. Spend your days exploring golden grasslands set against the backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains and Mikumi Hills. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK – RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Ruaha National Park. After lunch you will head out on a game drive. Four nights at RUAHA RIVER LODGE. (B, L, D)

DAYS 5 – 7: RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy three full days of game viewing. Ruaha has a large lion population and elephant are often sighted. You will also have the opportunity to see the elusive wild dog, leopard, cheetah, hyena and greater and lesser kudu. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: RUAHA NATIONAL PARK – SELOUS GAME RESERVE
Today you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to RUFIJI RIVER CAMP for your three-night stay. (B, L, D)

DAYS 9 – 10: SELOUS GAME RESERVE
Spend the next two days game viewing in 4×4 safari vehicles or on a walking safari. There is also the option to view game from the river aboard a boat, looking out for game such as hippos and crocodiles. Rufiji is also a great spot for bird watching, where thousands of birds live and nest along the banks of the river. (B, L, D)

DAY 11: SELOUS GAME RESERVE – DAR ES SALAAM
Enjoy breakfast and an early morning game drive before being transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Dar es Salaam. This will mark the end of your safari. (B)

Rufiji River Camp

Rufiji River Camp is located on the banks of the Rufiji River and was built by local craftsmen combining Makuti palm roofs and locally sourced paving stones. The tented camp is environmentally friendly and offers 11 classic tents and 3 suites that are well-spaced along the riverbank. Each tent has a veranda facing the river while suites add a private plunge pool. There is a constant flow of animals coming down to drink at the river offering a permanent show to visitors of the camp.

Ruaha River Lodge

Ruaha River Lodge was the first camp built in Ruaha National Park and set in amongst a large cluster of rocks right on the north bank of the Great Ruaha River. It is one of the better areas for game viewing in Ruaha National Park, particularly during the dry season. This area attracts large numbers of animals that are drawn to the river to drink. Ruaha River Lodge has twenty-four detached chalets. Ruaha River Lodge has two separate dining and bar areas. The lounge and dining areas are under one large thatch roof, with open sides and views of the river.

Stanley's Kopje

Situated high on a rocky kopje, overlooking the Mkata flood plain, Stanley’s Kopje is home to some of the best views in Mikumi National Park. 12 tents elevated on wooden platforms blend seamlessly into the Mikumi wilderness, offering views of the surrounding plains. This camp is renowned for its incredible game drives with fantastic guides and explorations of the Tanzanian landscape.
