This tour will allow you to discover the many cultures and traditions preserved throughout the country, visiting numerous indigenous communities and touring iconic sites such as the Otavalo Market and the cities of Riobamba, Cuenca and Guayaquil. Enjoy Ecuador’s natural wonders by visiting the Quilotoa Crater Lake, Chimborazo Volcano and the Cajas National Park.

Itinerary

DAY 1: QUITO
Today you will begin your tour in Quito, stopping first at the SINAMUNE Foundation. You will then head to Otavalo, famous for the Otavalo Market (an indigenous market) located in the Plaza de Ponchos. After lunch at Lago San Pablo you will visit the Quitsato Sundial, before being transferred to your HOTEL. (L, D)

DAY 2: QUILOTOA
After breakfast you will be taken to the Quilotoa Crater Lake via the amazing “Avenue of Volcanoes”. You will travel through small, colourful, indigenous towns where several ancient customs are still practised. On arrival at the crater lake, you will hike to its rim, enjoying breathtaking views. After lunch, visit the town of Isinlivi before transferring to your HOTEL for dinner. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: RIOBAMBA
Today you will be taken to the Chimborazo Volcano and National Park. Enjoy a box lunch before visiting a local indigenous community to learn about their culture and sample typical Andean dishes. Visit the city of Riobamba before being transferred to your HOTEL. (B, L).

DAY 4: ALAUSI – SOUTHERN ANDES – CUENCA
Early in the morning, depart for the town of Alausi to board the famous “Devil’s Nose Train” to Sibambe Station. Overnight at your HOTEL in Cuenco. (B, L)

DAY 5: CUENCA
Today you will tour the beautiful, colonial city of Cuenca. The third largest city in Ecuador and a World Heritage Site, the city features many architectural and cultural attractions. Your tour will include visits to the market and several handicraft workshops which produce paja toquilla hats (Panama hats) and beautiful, black, ceramic vases. Enjoy lunch at the renowned Dos Sucres restaurant which showcases local Ecuadorian cuisine. (B, L)

DAY 6: CUENCA – GUAYAQUIL
This morning you will travel towards Guayaquil. On the way you will stop at the Cajas National Park which features pristine lagoons and panoramic landscapes. Enjoy a small hike and visit the Toreadora Lagoon before continuing to Guayaquil where you will be taken on a city tour. (B, L)

DAY 7:  
Your journey through Ecuador ends today after breakfast. (B)
