Itinerary

DAY 1: LIMA

On arrival at Lima Airport, you will be met and transferred to your HOTEL for your two-night stay.

DAY 2: LIMA

Today, you will be taken on a tour of Lima’s Historic Centre. Visit the Aliaga House, a colonial mansion with over 5 centuries of history, the Plaza Mayor, and the Larco Museum. (B)

DAY 3: LIMA – IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

Today you will board a flight to Iquitos Airport (not included). On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the ARIA EXPEDITION for your seven-night cruise. After an introduction to your naturalist guides, enjoy dinner in the restaurant. (B, D)

DAY 4: IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

This morning, enjoy birdwatching along the Amazon River. Afterwards, explore the Yanayacu Yacapana River in search of wildlife including parrots, hawks, monkeys, and sloths. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

Today you will explore the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to fish for the Amazon’s notoriously ferocious piranhas. Afterwards, visit an Amazon village and witness a demonstration of Aguaje palm harvesting. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

After breakfast, you will be taken on a boat ride along the Marañon River, where you will have the opportunity to visit a group of Amazonian artisans and learn the art of weaving. In the afternoon, visit a beekeeper in the community on San Francisco, before heading out to the birthplace of the Amazon River. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

Today you will go in search of pink river dolphins. At dusk, ride along the black waters of El Dorado River, searching for the mysterious wildlife that comes out after dark. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

Today you will enjoy a full-day river safari with a picnic lunch. Walk in the floodplain forest and learn about the medicinal trees, insects, and frogs which inhabit the region. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: IQUITOS (AMAZON CRUISE)

This morning, search for wildlife along the Ucayali River. Return to the boat for breakfast, before your choice of morning activities. Fish for piranhas, canoe, kayak, swim in the black waters of Clavero Lake, or visit an Amazonian village. In the afternoon, explore the Yarapa River. (B, L, D)

DAY 10: IQUITOS – CUSCO

Today you will disembark in Iquitos. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Iquitos Airport, where you will board a flight to Cusco (not included). On arrival at Cusco Airport, you will be met and taken on a tour of Cusco. Visit the Santo Domingo Convent in the Qorikancha temple, the Cusco Cathedral and the Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Also visit the Qenqo archaeological complex, walk through the Puca Pucara military architectural complex and the ruins of Tambomachay. Two nights at your HOTEL. (B)

DAY 11: CUSCO

Today you will visit the archaeological site of Moray, known for its mysterious concentric circular terraces that create different microclimates. Then, continue to Maras, home to historic pre-Inca salt mines. (B)

DAY 12: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY

This morning you will be taken to the town of Chinchero, where you will have the opportunity to see its impressive agricultural terraces and the 17th-century church, built on an ancient Inca palace. Visit the Yucay Living Museum before enjoying lunch. Afterwards, visit the Ollantaytambo Fortress, a ceremonial centre known for its remarkable agricultural terraces extending up the surrounding mountains. Overnight at your HOTEL. (B, L)

DAY 13: SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU

Today you will board the Voyager train to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Upon arrival, enjoy a tour of Machu Picchu. This UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World is believed to have served as a sanctuary for the Inca Pachacútec. Overnight at your HOTEL.  (B, L)

DAY 14: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Enjoy a morning at your leisure. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Cusco for your overnight stay at your HOTEL. (B)

DAY 15: CUSCO

Today you will be met and transferred to Cusco Airport for your onward flight. (B)
