Chachapoyas and Kuelap

Overview

Chachapoyas has been one of Peru’s best kept secrets for years. Hidden in one of the most remote corners of the high Andes and boasting innumerable and priceless archaeological ruins, the region attracts avid adventurers wanting to go completely off the beaten track. If you can imagine exploring a beautifully preserved ancient fortress, hiking through a lush cloud forest and seeing one of the world’s tallest waterfalls, then this is the tour for you.

Itinerary

DAY 1: CHACHAPOYAS
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to you HOTEL.

DAY 2: GOCTA FALLS
Depart to Cocachimba and start the hike to the Gocta Waterfall through a dense and colourful rainforest. Enjoy the views and a delicious picnic lunch before returning to Chachapoyas. (B, L)

DAY 3: KUÉLAP – RAVESH
Today you will head to Kuélap, the main archaeological site of the area dating back to 500 AD. After touring the site encircled by a cloud forest, continue to the town of San Bartolo for a walk to the Revash mausoleums featuring chullpas (funerary towers) painted in ochre. (B, L)

DAY 4: CHACHAPOYAS
Today you will be met and transferred to the airport for your onward flight which will mark the end of your tour. (B)
