They say that Rovos Rail has renewed the golden age of luxury train travel in the heart of the African bush. These beautifully restored trains consist of up to 19 coaches; drawn by steam, diesel or electric locomotives operating at various stages of the journey. Refurbished in the style of the Edwardian period; the suites as well as the observation and dining cars feature superior modern comforts. Furthermore, Rovos Rail offers unique rail safaris through some of the most spectacular scenery in Africa.
The Pride of Africa departs Rovos Rail’s Station in Capital Park. Guests may freshen up in their suites before joining fellow travellers in the midway Lounge car or Observation carriage at the rear of the train. Dinner is served in the dining cars. (B, L, D)
Breakfast is served in the dining cars. Arriving in Kimberley guests disembark and proceed by coach/combi for a tour of the city, the “ Big Hole “ and the Mine Museum. Depart Kimberley and proceed overnight via De Aar and Beaufort West to Matjiesfontein. Lunch and dinner served in the dining cars. (B, L, D)
