Overview

This 20-day overland accommodated safari showcases some of Africa’s most diverse and exciting regions. From the majestic Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, to the giant dry red dunes of Sossusvlei, Namibia, and the game-rich labyrinth of lagoons, and channels of the Okavango Delta, Botswana, this is an experience rich safari in the heart of Southern Africa.

Itinerary

DAYS 1 – 2 : CAPE TOWN

The tour starts with a pre-departure meeting at 18:00 in the lobby of the hotel. Enjoy a full-day peninsula tour on the second day. Overnight at BREAKWATER LODGE. (B)

DAY 3: CAPE TOWN – NAMAQUALAND

Depart Cape Town and be driven through Namaqualand en-route to your accommodation. In the afternoon, there is the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting (own expense). Overnight at HIGHLANDERS LODGE AND CAMPSITE or similar. (B, D)

DAY 4: NAMAQUALAND – AUGRABIES FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Today you will head north to the Augrabies Falls National Park, where you will sight the mighty Orange River and its majestic falls. Overnight at KAKAMAS HOTEL or similar. (B)

DAYS 5 – 6: AUGRABIES – KGALAGADI TRANSFRONTIER PARK
Head into the Kalahari and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Here, enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight at KGALAGADI LODGE or similar. (B, D)

DAY 7: KGALAGADI – FISH RIVER CANYON
Enter Namibia and visit Fish River Canyon. Overnight at CANYON VILLAGE or similar. (B, D)

DAYS 8 – 9: FISH RIVER CANYON – SESRIEM
Head north to your accommodation located on the edge of the Namib Desert. The next day, leave for Sossusvlei, where you can explore the dunes, Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon. Two nights at DESERT QUIVER CAMP or similar. (B, D)

DAY 10: SESRIEM – SWAKOPMUND
Head to the coast at Walvis Bay, then to Swakopmund. Spend the afternoon and following morning at leisure exploring the German colonial town, with optional excursions available (own expense). Overnight at THE DELIGHT HOTEL or similar. (B)

DAY 11: SWAKOPMUND – DAMARALAND
Today, drive through Damaraland. Your lodge is located on top of a mountain. Overnight at UGAB TERRACE LODGE or similar. (B, D)

DAYS 12 – 13: DAMARALAND – ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Today you will proceed to Etosha National Park for your first game drive. The following day, enjoy a full day game drive. Two nights at ETOSHA VILLAGE or similar.

DAY 14: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK – OKAVANGO RIVER
Departing Etosha, you will enter the Caprivi Strip en-route to your river lodge. An optional boat cruise on the river is available (own expense). Overnight at HAKUSEMBE RIVER LODGE or similar. (B, D)

DAYS 15 – 16: OKAVANGO RIVER – OKAVANGO DELTA
Continue into the Caprivi and to the edge of the Delta, where SWAMP STOP CHALETS is located. Over your two-night stay, explore the channels of the Nxamasire area on mokoro and boat excursions, as well as on game walks. (B, L, D)

DAYS 17– 18: OKAVANGO DELTA – CHOBE RIVER
Today, you will cross back into Botswana into Chobe National Park. Overnight on the banks of the CHOBE RIVER. The following day, set out on a morning game drive and enjoy a sunset game viewing cruise on the Chobe River. One night at CHOBE SAFARI LODGE or similar. (B, D)

DAY 19: CHOBE RIVER – VICTORIA FALLS
Today, you will head to Victoria Falls. Spend the afternoon and following morning at leisure to see the falls or participate in one of the many optional activities (own expense). Overnight at CRESTA SPRAYVIEW HOTEL or similar. (B)

DAY 20: DEPART VICTORIA FALLS
Your tour will conclude after breakfast. (B)

Kakamas Hotel

Kakamas Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Kakamas, surrounded by lush vineyards. It boasts comfortable and well-appointed accommodation, serving as the perfect base for travellers wishing to see nearby attractions. 

Desert Quiver Camp

Situated in a convenient position just 5km from Sossusvlei is the unique Desert Quiver Camp. Home to 24 unique luxury self-catering accommodation units, this is the perfect base from which to explore the Namib. Enjoy facilities such as a pool, barbeque, restaurant and Adventure Centre.

Canyon Village

The Canyon Village sits picturesquely at the foot of a sweeping rock face in Gondwana Canyon Park. There is a thatched-roofed restaurant, coffee shop and a rustic bar, all set between massive granite boulders. Namibian artists have decorated the walls of the restaurant, similarly in the chalets, depicting the daily life of the original inhabitants of the area, the Bondelswart Nama. Alternatively, guests are welcome to enjoy a break at the pool. It has magnificent views of the endless plains of Gondwana Canyon Park.

Cresta Sprayview Victoria Falls

The Cresta Sprayview Hotel is 20 minutes from the Victoria Falls International Airport and is the first hotel you encounter as you get into town. Accommodation is ideally situated, in walking distance of the town of Victoria Falls, and offers 65 rooms. The hotel includes 2 restaurants, 2 bars, a swimming pool and 24 hour reception.

Chobe Safari Lodge

Chobe Safari Lodge is situated in Kasane on the banks of the Chobe River and shares a border with Chobe National Park. The lodge has recently been refurbished and offers a choice of luxury river rooms or the new safari rooms. Relax in the pool at the end of the day of enjoy a meal in the open-air restaurant.

Hantam Huis

Hantam Huis is an authentic building that is representative of the late 18th century’s building style. Built in 1854 it is the oldest authentic house in Calvinia. It took more than a decade to restore this building to its original glory, complete with its authentic reed roof, and was declared a national monument in 1983. Hantam Huis is currently being used as licensed restaurant and a museum complete with a curio shop stocked with handcrafted merchandise on the other.

Vergelegen Guesthouse

Vergelegen Guesthouse & Restaurant sits nestled in the Orange River Valley in a splendid farm setting on the outskirts of Kakamas. It is enroute to the Kalahari and Namibia, Namakwaland, and Richtersveld, as well as being close to a variety of attractions and activities. There are 25 guest rooms and 2 self-contained units available to guests. The hotel houses a swimming pool, the famous Coffee Shoppe, a restaurant and cocktail bar.

Located just five kilometres from the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, this intimate luxury lodge is a family owned and operated. The Delight Hotel

The hotel is located on the north side of the town centre and is a short distance from Palm Beach, the main shopping area and several restaurants and bars. There are 54 twin and family rooms spread over two floors, all of which are decorated with bright colours and stylish fixtures. The hotel’s facilities include a large dining room, a bar and lounge area and a garden.

Okaukeujo Camp

Okaukuejo Camp is located 17 km from the southern entrance of Etosha National Park. The main attraction of this camp is that it overlooks a permanent waterhole. In the early evenings it is not uncommon to have black rhinoceros, elephants and lions all drinking at the same time. Okaukuejo Camp has 104 chalets with 5 different types of accommodation (as well as camping).

Mokuti Lodge

Mokuti Lodge in Namibia is the closest lodge to Etosha National Park and is a 4 min drive from the eastern Von Lindequist Gate near the historical Namutoni Fort. It is located on its own private 4,000-hectare nature reserve, which shares a common border with the wildlife reserve. Thatched buildings dot the lodge gardens and two sparkling pools glisten amongst the vast gardens. All rooms at the Lodge offer modern accommodation and a view of the gardens or indigenous bush.

Hakusembe River Lodge

Hakusembe River Lodge is located west of the town of Rundu, on the banks of the Kavango River at the gateway to the Caprivi Strip. Set amidst well-kept gardens and under the shade of acacia trees are the 20 spacious en-suite chalets. The lodge also features a restaurant, bar, complimentary Wi-Fi in the reception area and a swimming pool. Also offered are a range of activities including tiger fishing, a sunset champagne cruise on the Okavango River and an African cultural experience. Hakusembe River Lodge provides a tranquil retreat for guests.

Namushasha River Lodge

Located on the banks of the Kwando River and facing the West Caprivi Game Park is Namushasha River Lodge. The lodge is set amidst lush gardens, hidden by surrounding trees and bushes, and 24 chalets are dotted along the riverbanks. Spend your free time enjoying the lodge restaurant, bar and lounge area, and swimming pool. The lodge also offers a variety of activities; boat cruises on the Kwando River, fishing trips, game drives to Bwabwata National Park and visits to the heritage centre.

Okakeujo Rest Camp

Okaukuejo Camp is located 17 km from the southern entrance of Etosha National Park, overlooking a permanent waterhole. In the early evenings it is not uncommon to have black rhinoceros, elephants and lions all drinking there at the same time. Okaukuejo Camp has 104 chalets all equipped with fridges and tea-stations. When not exploring this incredible area, enjoy the facilities on-site such as a restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool, kiosk and camping facilities.
