Mt Kilimanjaro Climbs

MACHAME ROUTE: 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS (6 DAY HIKE)

This route offers some of the best scenery ascending from the western side of Kilimanjaro, and descending down the south face. Each trip is led by a senior guide, with other guides in a ratio of approximately one guide per two or three climbers. This route gives you an opportunity to learn mountain skills as it maximises the time on the mountain to acclimatise as well as climbing at a more leisurely pace. Your nights will be spent in high quality 3 man alpine tents which sleep a maximum of two persons per tent. All your supplies and camping equipment will be portered up for you and all your meals are prepared.

RONGAI ROUTE: 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS (6 DAY HIKE)

This route will begin on the northern side of the mountain and on one of the least travelled routes. It is a very long drive to the starting point but your reward will be the fantastic views. This route approaches the highest mountain in Africa from the north and has a relatively gentle gradient and short daily stages. There are magnificent views throughout of the glaciers and ice cliffs, summit, and all across the East African plains far below. Nights will be spent in high quality three-man alpine tents, sleeping a maximum of two persons per tent. All your supplies and camping equipment will be portered up for you and all your meals are prepared.

MARANGU ROUTE: 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS (6 DAY HIKE)

The Marangu Route is the most common route, and gives all novice hikers a good opportunity to reach the summit. This is the easiest and the most popular route up Kilimanjaro with excellent well-defined trails. Marangu is the classic trail with comfortable mountain huts and good facilities spaced at ideal locations.

UMBWE ROUTE: 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS (6 DAY HIKE)

The Umbwe Route is incredibly beautiful and one of the shortest routes to the Southern Glaciers and the Western Breach of Kibo. It is quite a taxing hike due to the relatively fast ascent to higher altitudes, but the rewards are plentiful.

LEMOSHO ROUTE: 10 DAYS / 9 NIGHTS (8 DAY HIKE)

This route starts on the western side of the mountain and is an unspoilt, remote and very beautiful route to the Shira Plateau. The trail leads up to the western edge of the Shira Plateau, and the hike across the plateau is said to be one of the most stunning in Africa. (Climbers may be accompanied on the first day by an armed ranger, as the forests around the Lemosho Glades are rich with buffalo, elephant and other big game animals).
