Classic South Luangwa

Overview

This safari is an exciting way to relive the past as you follow in the footsteps of the great explorers. The relatively remote Luangwa Valley in Zambia is favoured by wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and first–timers alike. This safari offers a combination of the remote luxury of Mfuwe Lodge as well as two small exclusive bush camps with only 4 or 5 tents or chalets at each camp, and the thrill and adventures of walking in the bush.

Kapamba Bush Camp

Occupying a secluded area in the southern part of the South Luangwa National Park, the camp is nestled on the banks of the shallow Kapamba River. 4 open-fronted chalets enjoy stunning views of the river below, each with a veranda and private plunge pool. Featuring a wide deck with a campfire area and views of Kapamba River, the central lounge, bar and dining area provides guests with tranquil relaxation spaces. Activities offered at the camp include day and night game drives as well as guided walks.

Bilimungwe Bush Camp

Bilimungwe follows the traditions of the African bush camp with elegance and style to create a stunning camp that feels like it has grown organically out of the surrounding landscape. Set beneath a huge mahogany tree, the heart of Bilimungwe is the cool, shady lounge area that looks out over one of the camp’s three waterholes. Not far from the Luangwa River, the game around Bilimungwe is excellent with elephant and all kinds of other game visiting the waterholes.

Mfuwe Lodge

Ease yourself into Luangwa life with a stay at the award winning Mfuwe Lodge. Set inside the park, just five minutes’ drive from the main gate, the lodge’s allure is instantly obvious. Its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife will keep you enthralled as you lounge on the open deck or take a dip in the swimming pool. This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game – giraffe, buffalo, antelope and crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon, whilst in November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.
