Overview

This 11 day luxury tour visits some of the most interesting and beautiful areas of Sri Lanka including Anuradhapura with is statue of Buddha, Sigiriya, known for its 5th century rock citadel, the beautiful beaches of Trincomalee and Passikudah as well as wildlife viewing at Yala National Park. The accommodation is based on 5 star boutique properties, each uniquely designed and environmentally friendly, all offering outstanding food and service.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVE COLOMBO
On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide who will be with you during your entire stay in Sri Lanka and who will transfer you to your hotel. Overnight stay at THE RESIDENCE.

DAY 2: COLOMBO – ANURADHAPURA
After breakfast, you will be taken on a full day tour of Anuradhapura – the first capital of Sri Lanka – which is regarded as one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Stroll through the sacred trails of the city where you can see the gigantic dagoba resting alongside the Basawakkulama Tank shaded by the Samadhi Buddha Statue, as well as the Isurumuniya Rock Temple. Overnight at ULAGALLA RESORT. (B)

DAY 3: ANURADHAPURA
Today you will be taken on a full day tour to Sigiriya to visit the 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa. Sigiriya is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is regarded as one of the finest monuments of art & culture. Continue to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, another World Heritage Site featuring stupas, resting Buddha statues, irrigation canals and fantastically carved Hindu sculptures. Return to your hotel for overnight stay at ULAGALLA RESORT. (B)

DAY 4: ANURADHAPURA – TRINCOMALEE
After breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Trincomalee. The rest of the day will be at leisure, for you to enjoy the area. Overnight at JUNGLE BEACH RESORT. (B)

DAY 5: TRINCOMALEE
Today you will be taken on a city tour of Trincomalee. Afterward, visit the granite-built Portuguese fort or head towards the crystal blue sea for some scuba diving, snorkeling or fishing. You can also visit the medieval Hindu temple ‘Koneswaram’ which is a good example of Dravidian architecture, or take a stroll towards the Bhadrakali Amman Temple dedicated to the goddess
Kali. Overnight at JUNGLE BEACH RESORT. (B)

DAY 6: TRINCOMALEE – PASSIKUDAH
Today you will travel by road to Passikudah. After arrival in Passikudah, the rest of the day will be at leisure. Overnight at UGA BAY RESORT. (B)

DAY 7: PASSIKUDAH
Today is also at leisure to enjoy the beautiful reef protected beaches or make use of the vehicle for half a day (up to 80 km). Overnight at UGA BAY RESORT. (B)

DAY 8: PASSIKUDAH – YALA
Today you will head south to the Yala National Park, where you will have two nights at CHENA HUTS. (FI)

DAY 9: YALA
Today you will enjoy a full day safari at Yala National Park, which has the highest density of leopards in the world. It also has herds of elephant, sloth bear, spotted deer, wild pig, and jackal and over 30 species of birds. (FI)

DAY 10: YALA – COLOMBO
After breakfast, you will head back to Colombo for a city tour, including a visit to the crystal white Race Course – a horse racing hub in 1893 and a World War II airstrip. Afterwards, you will continue to Pettah and the Floating Market – an of the beaten path shopping experience, followed by a visit to Bauddhaloka Mawatha and the Arcade Independence Square shopping complex. Check in to your hotel for an overnight stay at THE RESIDENCE. (B)

DAY 11: DEPART COLOMBO
Today you will be transferred to Colombo airport. (B)
