Overview

Beginning in Kolkata, this 9-day tour will take you on a journey through Assam and Nagaland, showcasing some of India’s best nature and wildlife as well as the region’s unique cultural heritage. Explore the Kaziranga National Park where sightings of tigers and one-horned rhinoceros are not uncommon, before continuing to Kohima where the extraordinary cultures and tribes of this pocket of India, will be revealed to you.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVE KOLKATA
On arrival at Kolkata Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Two nights at your HOTEL in Kolkata.

DAY 2: KOLKATA
Today you will be taken on a full day tour of Kolkata city, visiting the Howrah Bridge, the Victoria Memorial, Maiden Park and landmarks such as the Writers’ Building and the Town Hall. The tour culminates with a visit to Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity. (B)

DAY 3: KOLKATA – GUWAHATI – KAZIRANGA NP
Today you will board your flight to Guwahati. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your LODGE in Kaziranga National Park. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK
Begin the day with an early morning jeep safari in the Kaziranga National Park. The park is inhabited by the world’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceros and is home to tigers, elephants, panthers and bears as well as a large variety of birds. After lunch, return for another jeep safari. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK
After an early breakfast you will depart for the Eastern Range of the park for a jeep safari. Return to the lodge for lunch before enjoying a final jeep safari in the Central Range of the park. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: KAZIRANGA – KOHIMA
After breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (B, D)

DAY 7: KOHIMA
Today you will have an early breakfast before leaving for Kigwema Village which is home to the Angami people who played a significant role in WWII. Explore the village before heading to the venue of the Hornbill Festival where you will visit traditional Naga houses and enjoy different tribal dance performances. Taste some of the local cuisine of the different Naga tribes then head back to your HOTEL in Kohima. (B, D)

DAY 8: KOHIMA
Day at leisure to explore the town on your own. (B, D)

DAY 9: KOHIMA – DIMAPUR – KOLKATA
After breakfast you will be transferred to Dimapur Airport to board your afternoon flight back to Kolkata where your tour will end. (B)
